A New Year's Prayer

In keeping with your word
I take joy in your promises.
In keeping with your word
I will sing.
In keeping with your word
Renew my  strength.
In keeping with your word
I will wait in holy anticipation.
In keeping with your word
I will rise up in prayer.
In keeping with your word
Revive my broken spirit.
In keeping with your word
Teach me to be patient.
In keeping with your word
Rebuild my shattered dreams.
In keeping with your word
Uphold to me as you have  promised.
In keeping with your word
Redeem me from my trespasses.
In keeping with your word
Rescue me from unbelief.
In keeping with your word
Teach me to celebrate each day
As your precious gift to me.

The Bend on the Road

The vision was what inspired them
They took up the journey to fulfill their dream.
Twenty long years the elderly couple worked tirelessly.
From one milestone, to the next, they kept on working .
Till one day while on the highway
The woman broke her hip bone,
While lying in bed with a lifeless leg
She looked upward and said to her God rather bitterly.

“I have been working for your kingdom
From the day I got saved, is this your reward I get in my old age"?
That night while tossing and turning in bed,
She had a vision that she was dead.
The members of her family who were in heaven now

Welcomed her warmly and showed her around.
She breathed a sigh of relief to see her own name written in the Lambs book of life and she quickly looked for the names of all her loved ones.

There was brightness all around and everyone seemed to be wearing a white gown,
Sounds of familiar hymns she could hear in the background.
She was taken to meet her master the Lamb of God.
She fell at his feet and He gently lifted her up,

“You are worthy so don’t condemn yourself or your Savior for what you have lost,
You have already been redeemed by my blood, He said.
"A season of restoration will happen soon,
All that is broken will get healed again,

It’s not the end of your journey yet you have just reached a bend,
You need to go back and tell the world
To pray in earnest as the days are close for My return." He said
She woke up with joy untold,

And thanked her God for her broken bone,
Because of which she got to see her heavenly home.

One Drop of Mercy

The old lady stood pleading before the judge
“One drop of mercy is all I ask,”she begged him with folded hands,
“Please   give me back my son."
"He has paid the price a hundred times over, for his wrong of robbing his neighbour, by being ten years in your prison now;
You cannot keep him forever “, she cried,
“He has suffered for the last ten years and so have we, his family, she sobbed brokenly.
Please I beg you show us one drop of mercy!” she continued to implore
“The law has to take its own course, the judge retorted harshly
The price he has to pay is for life.
You never seem to understand,” he continued in a rage.
“Throw her out, the judge commanded, l never wants to see you again!” he thundered down at her
The old woman said quietly to the judge as she was led away from court
“He has already received mercy from Adonai, there is no more need for me to beg you again".
13 even though I used to be a man who blasphemed and persecuted and was arrogant! But I received mercy because I had acted in unbelief, not understanding what I was doing. 1 Timothy 1:13Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
The enraged crowd within the court started shouting for One drop of mercy!
Soon the crowd outside everywhere started chanting One drop of mercy!
In every village and in every town One drop of mercy could be heard from all around,
The echo of their voices soon reached the king’s ears
“What is the uproar in the city, what’s going on can anyone tell me” he asked in anxiety
“An old lady’s appeal to the judge has the whole country singing,
One drop of mercy!” An officer explained ,
“She has been pleading for the release of her son for many years now, who was caught in a petty theft 10 years ago.
He has been imprisoned for life.”
“Life imprisonment for a petty theft, how can that be the case, in my country? The king interrupted and asked,
“Set him free immediately, no one can undermine my authority,
Bring the judge who sentenced him for life
From now on he can start pleading with me for the rest of his life for,
“One Drop of Mercy”.

Left Behind

Its ten days now she’s gone for good
Old Albert muttered to himself...
“No amount of crying can bring her back from the dead again.
“Oh how I wish I was not the one to be left behind”, he sighed brokenly.
“She had me to take care of her, but this old man has nobody”.
He sobbed out aloud uncontrollably and buried his head on her pillow.
He found a book and pulled it out and found it was the book Agnes was so fond of.
He opened the page to the bookmark and read the verse that was underlined a lot.
Till your old age I will be the same — I will carry you until your hair is white. I have made you, and I will bear you; yes, I will carry and save you.
Agnes had also written shakily by its side
“Lord Please take care of my Albert after I’m gone,
Let him not have to face his old age by himself.”
He gently ran his fingers over her handwriting over and over again.
“Oh Agnes how much you cared, O god how I wish, I was not the one to be left behind," he cried.
He fell asleep on the bed ,holding the pillow in one hand and the bible in the other.
He got up the next day to loud banging’s on the door.
A young handsome man in soldier’s uniform stood knocking,
“I am your step sister's son. He spoke hurriedly, in the way of explanation,
“Mother has been trying to find you for years.
When she read about Aunt Agnes in the obituary column,
She sent word to me to bring you home.|"
“Hurry! We need to pack, I am on duty, and from now on you are going to live with our family.
The old man stood stupefied and quietly nodded a yes,
“God has been faithful to Agnes’s prayer,” he said to himself.
“I am no longer afraid; he smiled as he turned to go inside.

Abundantly Blessed

Standing alone at the balcony,
The old lady felt pretty bad for herself.
There was no one around to talk to.
She was sick from head to toe, and yet she had no one beside her to share her woes.
Ms Rachel, the lady next door called on her the next day
Agnes filled with self pity poured out her soul.
“You are so sick,| Ms Rachel exclaimed “Don’t you think it’s a blessing that in spite of all your sickness and age you are able to cook, clean and manage your house”?
"I have never thought about it before, yes certainly it is”, Agnes replied.
“Your children? Have they abandoned you?” Ms Rachel continued to ask,
"Oh No not at all, “They are busy with their lives, yet they try and do their best for me all the time”.
"What about your siblings they are in their own world, I suppose”,
"No mine call me throughout the day and sometimes even at night”
"What about friends, no one is left now over the years?
"No, my friends have been with me from my teenage years,
“What about finances you must be struggling now?”
"All provisions have prepared for me from before “
“What about your spouse was he a terror?
“Oh no, he was a gem of a man, he treated me like a  queen most of the time",
“What about your dreams do you regret not realizing any of them because years of being laden in bed?
"No, God enabled me to fulfil most of them. This building we are in is one of them, "she replied proudly
“Looking back on your life, Ms. Rachel, went on to say,
“You are surrounded with loving family and friends
You have been able to achieve your dreams in spite of all your many sicknesses.
You are still standing strong and living life according to your terms.
I have only one word to describe you
You are truly abundantly blessed.", Agnes beamed a big smile and nodded a big yes.

Arise your time has come

The men lay sprawled out across the field
Broken, bruised, and wounded,
Fed up from fighting a losing   battle which never seemed to end.
Suddenly massive gusts of wind blew across the field
Literally blowing them off the ground.
They had no other choice but to run to the closest trench.
Dragging themselves and their injured mates along
Suddenly in a blink of an eye, a bomb from the enemy's camp blew up the field they had just been in.
The men looked at each other amazed; if it wasn’t for the wind they would have been dead by now.
The leader amongst them jumped up and spoke with great passion,
"People, it’s truly the hand of God which saved our lives today.
If he is here amongst us here protecting us would not he also help us fight the enemy?
This verse is coming to my mind from the Holy Book
 (13) You will arise and take pity on Tziyon, Psalm 102 (CJB)
For the time has come to have mercy on her;
The time determined has come."
The men arose as one; their weariness fell to the ground,
They ran across to where the enemy camp was,
And fired at them with all they got.
Mayhem confusion sent the enemy scattering as they thought a big battalion had arrived
The men chased after them.
Blowing the horn of victory signalling their end
People came of the homes rejoicing  Once again Adonai had delivered them.

Will Never Again Be Shamed

She made her way through the crowd,
Gathered around, to board the ship to Syria.
Looking out through the window,
The past couple of years flew across her head,
The missing ship and a father, who was lost at sea,
A war ravaged land, the nasty relatives, a host of creditors,
Living like an Orphan from a young age, the song in her heart was totally dead.
The news had come out lately the prisoners of war were soon to be released,
“I am taking my chance, Oh God,
I trust you to keep me safe and make me successful in what I undertake”, she prayed.
The prisoners were released one by one,
Her heart  skipped a beat ,each time a name was called.
"O please let him  be alive," she begged God from the inside.
To her astonishment the last name was that of her father's,
A gasp flew out of her mouth “Dad!" she found herself crying out,
There was an eerie silence as the captain turned to look at his daughter,
He stood electrified as the image of his dead wife stood in front of him in the form of his little girl,
Who was now a beautiful young woman who looked just like her mother.
With quick steps she ran towards him
“Dad! Yes child!, "He embraced his daughter tightly.
Looking intently at her,
He started reciting slowly from the word of God, CJB Joel 2:25-26
“I will restore to you the years that the locusts ate,
The grasshoppers, shearer-worms and cutter-worms,
my great army that I sent against you.
26 You will eat until you are satisfied
and will praise the name of Adonai your God,
who has done with you such wonders.
Then my people will never again be shamed. Holding his daughter’s hand, joyfully they made their journey home wards, Assured of getting back their days the locusts had eaten.

The Dance of Zorah

Defeat could not hold them down,
Countless failings could not keep them from hanging on,
Hope swept through their souls each day,
Faith kept them plodding away,
“Wasteful cause, as your labor has so far been in vain.” people often taunted them.
“If the vision is His, the timing is His too, we need to just hold on and wait,” they would explain.
Life‘s troubles and pains kept them constantly on their toes,
They had no other choice but to cling to Adonai for all their woes,
Adonis answered them as he promised,
For Adonis says, “I will spread shalom (Isaiah 66:12) CJB
Over her like a river,
And the wealth of nations
Like a flooding stream;
You will nurse and be carried in her arm
And cuddled in her lap.
Like someone comforted by his mother,
I will comfort you;
Sure enough, His abundance poured down on them.
Flooding their hearts with untold joy and thanksgiving.
They brought out their drums and tambourines,
And danced and danced and sang praises to His name!!

Will Go Ahead of You

It’s begun. My journey, young Diana whispered shakily to herself.
Her fingers shook as she stared pensively into the cup of hot chocolate.
There was a strange chilliness in the morning air, the mysteries of the sea.
Lurking before her, beckoning her to come towards death trap like an evil witch.
Fear seems to envelop her. She shook herself to break its spell and said
“I am the master of this ship and I am the master of my soul,
I am going to take on this journey nothing can stop me not even the demons from hell.”
James the old porter, arrived just then holding some large journals in his hand
“The late captain, your father had asked me to give them to you when you about to take off on your own”, he said.
Anxiously she turned the yellow pages of her daddy’s journals.
"Your big day has come,"her father wrote,"there are some books you need to refer to and believe in with all your might.
The book of Adoni to hold on to with all your strength and memorize these verses in front of you as you start the jouney of life."
Isaiah 62:12 CJB
For Adonis will go ahead of you,
and the God of Israel will also be behind you.
Isaiah 42:16 the blind I will lead on a road they don’t know,
on roads they don’t know I will lead them;
I will turn darkness to light before them,
an
.d straighten their twisted paths.
These are things I will do without fail.
"The other books are my journals," he continued to tell.
"Follow them as a road map for your life on the high seas of life.
Never be afraid. You have a God who will go ahead of you
And your earthly fathers journals to tell you what he did do on all the issues which will confront you too."
The tears rolled from her eyes and splashed onto the books
With courage flowing in strength renewed,
She blew her captain‘s horn and shouted out to the crew on deck,
"Ahoy boys get on board! The journey has begun.

Do something new

Every night for the past year and a half,
Elizabeth whispered the same prayer to her God each night,
“Do something new in my life, O God,” she cried.
Shut in by herself in a little house by the hillside
Trying her best to reconcile herself to a world without John her beloved,
Who died two years ago after being terminally sick for over a decade.
Their house was so empty, her life felt so dead.
“O God she often thought, how am I going to live through each day,in the years ahead?
Her work kept her busy O but her heart was so empty,
Memories hurt, loneliness killed,
But she had to pull on there was no other way.
“Elizabeth,” pastor said, when her met her in church that day.
“We have all been praying for you,
And we believe this is what Adonai wants you to do.
There is an assignment for a missionary school in West Africa
If you say yes, everything will be arranged for you,
But you will have to leave early tomorrow.” he said.
Elizabeth nodded a yes, with tears flowing down her face.
Whatever said and done it was hard to leave the only life she knew.
She then recollected those words from her morning prayer which seemed like a confirmation.
“Stop dwelling on past events
and brooding over times gone by;
 I am doing something new;
it’s springing up — can’t you see it?
I am making a road in the desert,
rivers in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18-19 CJB
“I trust you God”, she whispered over and over again,
As her journey began and she reached her destination.
Knees knocking, heart pounding she made her way.
Towards the large burly dark man who met her at the airport that day.
And they drove miles and miles in the hot desert land,
They reached an old dilapidated school by the river bank.
A sea of little orphans burst through the door
And threw themselves at her in ones, two and fours,
“Our mother has come they yelled in joy!”
To be called a mother a word which sounded so strange to her
But oh it sounded so sweet to her tired ears.
“Thank you Adonai, she whispered to her God.
As she hugged the little ones back,
For doing something new and giving me new lease of life!

All My Mountains Into Roads

Isabelle looked about her
“Oh!   Yet another mountain”, she cried
“Why is that when I set out to do anything?
There is always a mountain standing large in front of me.”
“Yes child,” Grandfather answered her “It’s always the mountain within which needs conquering first.
You need faith child, believe Adonai for his words,
That he will turn all our mountains into roads. Isaiah 49:11-12 CJB.”
“There is a saying which says mountains cannot be surmounted except by winding paths.
We need to find the path. “He continued.
“Look, “Isabelle cried, “Tonight our soldiers are expected to return from the sea.
Somebody needs to put the light on at the light house it’s got to me.”
“It’s too dangerous, Grandfather said, the rocks there are too steep,
But Isabella did not listen on her way she went,
She reached by dusk and pushed the door,
The next thing she knew she was on the floor.
An iron beam from the ceiling had come out loose
And struck her head and across the eyes the metal flew.
Blinded with pain and with her vision impaired,
She felt darkness around her and she screamed in despair.
Her dreams, her future seem to fade away into the black night as she turned to.
Adononai, and cried with all her might.
"Help me; find the way, to make it to the top,
The men out at sea are depending on me.”, she sobbed.
By the light from the light house .The men reached safely.
Isabelle the girl was nowhere to be seen.
The young soldier Joshua, pale like a ghost, ran like the wind
With his heart beating wildly prayed from within.
"Lord please save her, the thought of losing her makes me realize how much I love her".
He found the unconscious girl and brought her down.
Temperature, bandanges and a swollen head,
It took her a week to see again.
Grateful and thankful to the almighty
“She smiled happily to see them all again.
Not only did you conquer a mountain, “Grandfather whispered into her ear. “One of  your dream is coming true, did you know!”
“Joshua the young soldier whom you always loved from before just announced to all of us that he wants to marry you.”
The young girl blushed and looked to the sky and said these words to Adonai.
“Not only did you save me and help me cross my  mountain but you have given him to me whose bride I always wanted to be”.
"Thank you Adonai!".

Dont Be Afraid

It was the beginning of the year
A lot to think and plan.
Mediating on God’s word,
The same words kept propping up for Peter again and again.
Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid.
So true, Peter thought, how I can move forward without
Clearing all the debris from my head.
Fears, negativity, pessimism and lack of confidence
Are building dungeons in my mind.
Some of my works lie dead, Like bones on the desert ground.
How can I put my hand on the plough?
When I think of all that I had invested and lost time and time again...
“Peter,” his uncle, the Rabi came in just then and said.
God had given me a word for you
Turn your bible to 37:12-14 CJB
12 Therefore prophesy; say to them that Adonai Elohim says, ‘My people! I will open your graves and make you get up out of your graves, and I will bring you into the land of Isra’el. 13 Then you will know that I am Adonai — when I have opened your graves and made you get up out of your graves, my people! 14 I will put my Spirit in you; and you will be alive.
Don’t you think the God who gives life to dead bones cant He breathe life into your dead dreams again?
True, Peter nodded .“God is not done with you, yet, Peter”
See what he has promised for this year in the book of   Haggai 2:5-9 CJB
Nevertheless, Z’rubavel, take courage now,” says Adonai; “and take courage, Y’hoshua the son of Y’hotzadak, the cohen hagadol; and take courage, all you people of the land,” says Adonai; “and get to work! For I am with you,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot. “This is in keeping with the word that I promised in a covenant with you when you came out of Egypt, and my Spirit remains with you, so don’t be afraid!” For this is what Adonai-Tzva’ot says: “It won’t be long before one more time I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land; and I will shake all the nations, so that the treasures of all the nations will flow in; and I will fill this house with glory,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot. “The silver is mine, and the gold is mine,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot.“The glory of this new house will surpass that of the old,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot, “and in this place I will grant shalom,” says Adonai-Tzva’ot.’”
Peter smiled, Uncle said
“Get to work son, and start ploughing, God is with you.
“Thank you dear God,” Peter replied,” I am no longer afraid to try once again.”
