The Great Escape

"What shall we do O noble one?
It’s a strong and mighty army which surrounds us",
The people wailed to the king.
The king had no solution.
"How many men are out there?” the king asked
"Thousands”, they replied
"Gallant men well equipped with strong stallions".
This is the 10th day since they have besieged us...
Anytime they can force their way in...
Hundreds of our young men are dying every day protecting our great wall
O King what is the solution and what should be done," they continuously wailed.
"We cannot go in for a truce they will capture our women and children and make slaves of our men, the wise men added.
Suddenly an old man pulled his torn robes tightly around him and came forward to bow before the king...
"What’s he doing here”? The king asked moving his face away in disgust
"He says he has the answer", the soldiers who brought him in answered.
"What is it?” the king asked rather impatiently
"This country", the old man, began sounding so educated and cultured in spite of his poverty
"Was known as a country with giants in ancient’s times and it was a myth which had spread far and wide across the nations.
It was for this reason that our country had been safe for so many centuries in spite of its proximity to the seas and mountains
"The giants have woken up! The king exclaimed in excitement
"Precisely we can create sounds of giants walking and get the circus people who can walk on stilts dress up as giants." the old man continued.
"Brilliant!” said the king and the whole city woke up to the idea and in no time the giants were created.
At the set time, the people started running in panic shouting,
"The giants have risen run!” their shrill screams sent the enemy camp fluttering for safety.
There was rejoicing all around and king and all his men laughed and laughed recalling how the enemy fled with the mere sound of drums...
The old man watched them and slowly walked away.
Ecclesiastes 9:15 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
15 Now there was found in it a man who was poor but wise, and by his wisdom he saved the city; yet afterwards, nobody remembered that poor man.
Always strive to be prosperous or else like this old man you will fade into oblivion in spite of saving a nation...
