Break Free

He sat through the night gently strumming his guitar,
"How offbeat the notes sounded", he thought,
Just like the way he perceived his life was going.
He tried and tried to solve the situation but the mess at home kept getting messier.
The problems never change, it just keeps adding by the day.
"Am I just going to stay this way,
With a whole lot empty dreams and  an empty heart.
Broken promises and a broken heart."?

Suddenly, he looked up and through the faint light on the window glass,
He could just about able to read the words “Break free”,
"Break free?, His mind digested the words again and again.
Hey isn’t that what the scripture says
The truth will set you free.
Here I am bound to my past, bound to my dreams,
Chained to my future, imprisoned in my memories,
I know what I need to do now,
"B R E A K FREE"!!
"Yeah these words are truly eureka to me…Break free from all the chains on me"!!!

Grace

Young Grace cried to the Lord,
"It’s not fair, born from the same womb,
Why am I singled out as a maid in the house?
While my siblings are all in school in town"?
God answered, "My grace is sufficient for you".

Married young to simple loving man,
She led a happy life.
Till she saw her siblings
Living in pomp and style,
In a world so different from her own.
"Why God, Why, you have given them more riches?"
"Grace," He answered, “I am there to supply your needs”.

As the years when by,
Grace fell very sick.
She looked at her healthy siblings,
And cried, "Lord, why me!”
"I am the giver of life, He replied, "you can draw your strength from me".

She gave her kids the best she could,
She did not want them to face life like the way she did,
She sacrificed her life, all of it,
For them to stand tall with her siblings kids.

Years gone by,
The warrior stood,
Tall with all she achieved.
But fate added her twist in her life story,
By causing a dent in her memory.

"Why Lord, why,
Again it’s me, she cried!”
"Yes Grace, He replied,
"Till your old age, I am there to carry you
  Just trust in me.".

Set Apart

Torn from his loved ones,
Surrounded with fear and uncertainty.
Unsure of who he was anymore,
All he knew,
That he was at the mercy of God.
For his life, his future and his destiny.
He remembered his dreams,
His father and brothers and all the loved ones back home.
It all seems so far away and now he was on his own.
He was happy to be alive,
Happy, God was by his side.
His superiors adored him,
His work was blessed, everything he touched prospered.
He knew this was not the end.
God was preparing him for greatness,
He was being set apart,
To be molded for the person he was meant to be, for the work of God.
Days went in to years,
His fame as the anointed Hebrew boy went into all ears.
Till one day,
The Great Pharaoh called him, regarding his own woes.
That day, God opened the gates of his destiny,
He was now, qualified for the role he was called,
He was given the Land, wife, power and position,
All in a day’s time.
He was given the task ,to  save the emperor’s land.
In time,God gave him back his loved ones,
Never to be separated again.
He then realized why he was set apart,
So that he could  be used for the glory of God.
Psalm 4:3 KJV
But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself:

Mourning into Dancing

“Mother”, Miriam said, “This is hopeless,
The situation gets worse by the day,
And you still want me to believe,
That the Messiah   will work miracles in this day and age”? Miriam asked, angrily,
“Patience my child, people are praying everywhere,
There is prophecy and confirmation, the time has come.
Our mourning will turn to joy”. mother replied,
“Rubbish, you just say that to comfort me, mother”.
“I am so scared that I will land up as the king’s concubine,
Seeing the way he was eyeing me yesterday”.
“There is so much bondage in this place,
We are just toiling for nothing and we are just about surviving,
I don’t want to live another day!”.
“Hush, child, have faith, God’s word does not lie”, mother replied.
The night silence was broken by shouts of battle cry,
People shivered in their homes while their land was ripped apart,by an unknown side.
Daybreak, they waited, too scared to move,
Until they heard the voices of the shepherd boys,
“God has given our land into the hands of His people,
Our cruel king and his army lies died!”
"Hail to the Messiah, who is faithful to His word and His promises!” they cried,
People rushed out of their homes.
Miriam leaping in the air with joy,
“Mother” she yelled, “The Word is true”, “Yes it is”, mother replied too overjoyed to speak,
“The Lord has turned our mourning into dancing!”
11 For the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.
12 Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
14 And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 31:11-14 KJV

Beauty for Ashes

The girl dragged herself into the  temple

"Will the great one forgive me this time as well?" She asked herself, again and again.

Her body weeping uncontrollably she broke down before the mighty one and wept.

Tears flowed between her fingers,

"I am so wretched, she sobbed, forgive me O god."

The Rabbi, who had come in just then

Put his hand on her shoulder turned her around to face him and said

"Daughter, you are redeemed by God". See what god says in his word (Isaiah 44:22 k.J.v)

“I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee”
"God has buried them in the deepest sea.He remembers your sins no more
Neither should  yee."

Wiping away her tears with his hands, he continued

"God gives you Beauty for your ashes

The oil of joy for your spirit of heaviness

Go, now beloved, and live for his glory (ref Isaiah 61:3 K.j.v)

Bask in his will and the realm of his promises".

She nodded, her face shining, eyes brimming with joy,

She left the temple with quick steps renewed, forgiven and totally made whole.

"To live for your glory alone , O God for the rest of my life is what I will seek to do... she determined in her heart and left.

I Will Trust In You

Talia ran across the forest
Her enemies in hot pursuit.
They have been chasing her for months ,
And today she felt trapped in the woods.

Puffing and panting and fighting her way,
“I need to make it to the other side”, she kept telling herself
“Come what may!.”

The path was so shaky,
There were pebbles and stones everywhere.
Cuts and bruises
Leaves and bushes onward she went like a bullet train.

I will trust in you, O Lord
Words of Deuteronomy 33: 12 KJV
“The beloved of the Lord shall dwell in safety by him; and the Lord shall cover him all the day long, and he shall dwell between his shoulders” gave her the confidence to move on unafraid."

Suddenly she heard a gunshot behind her,
Quick footsteps hushed voices and a loud thud,
"Don't worry its all over",
The man in authority came over to her and said.

Still shaking from all the excitement,
She walked out of the woods,
Her family stood waiting for her.
She hugged them, and the words of Deuteronomy 33:29 came over to her again.

“Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the Lord, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy Excellency! And thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.”

The Road Ahead

Contemplating on the road ahead,

The young boy, broke out in cold sweat.
"It’s too difficult, he yelled!"
"What if I can’t make it?"

"I may even die from exhaustion or get mugged by a thief or get killed by an animal,"

“Grandfather! ,he shouted, you just don't care do you?”

His wise grandfather looked at him squarely in the eye,

He put a large book in his hands with his eyes twinkling,

And with a little laugh said,” Son, sometimes you have to fight to be a man!!”

“Promise me son, as your journey in life has just began,

“You will confront every situation which bothers you,

Not with your fist, but by the word of God."

"This is a book of life. No journey of any mortal is complete without it."

“Study it!” he said, emphatically,” as you go along the way,"

"And the watch the beauty of your dreams unfold,"

"Feel the sweat of victory, fall down your cheeks, from great battles you will fight,"

"Sense pride pounding on your chest at every nook and corner for achievements you will win."
"And finally, remember, the tears, the pain and hurts which will mar you on your journey, you will not remember, when the day, He (the Master) finally whispers into your ears,"

“Well done, good and faithful servant, you can now wear the victor’s crown!”
